For Kishore’s project, we began with the design of a front fence that incorporated a pedestrian gate, an electric sliding gate, and a smaller access gate for the water meter. Once the design was finalised and approved by our client, we proceeded with the building application to the local council. This required three in-person meetings with one of the council’s builders to ensure that the application process ran smoothly and without the need for major amendments. With approval in place, construction commenced, starting with the footings and progressing to the main fence structure. After this stage, the fence was rendered and fitted with slats in accordance with the council’s specific requirements regarding spacing for street visibility. The custom gates, manufactured by a trusted third party, were then installed along with their tracks. Aluminium slats were fitted to the gates, followed by the installation of an Italian-designed brushless electric motor to operate the driveway sliding gate, completing the project to a high standard.
“Overcoming Challenges, Showcasing Results”
Following the design phase, the building application process proved to be particularly challenging. Despite our due diligence—making numerous calls to the council and attending five in-person meetings with a council builder—the application took seven months to be approved. These delays impacted timelines, with several trades needing to move on to other projects. Throughout this period, we worked closely with our client to keep the project moving forward, including coordinating with a friend of the client who completed the rendering at their request.
Once construction was complete, the client asked us to assist with integrating remote access for both the pedestrian and sliding gates via an app and in-house intercom system. While the client’s CCTV installer handled the cabling and integration, our team returned to install an electric strike and mortice lock on the pedestrian gate. The result was a seamless solution, with both gates now fully operable remotely—delivering convenience, security and modern functionality.
